I am a self-taught artist. When I experiment with new materials, I feel the thrill of strong emotion. I especially employ materials that are difficult to handle, such as metals, sands, rivets, acids, and industrial tools. I find that these materials and the emotions they evoke within me allow me to shape, characterize, and express my work. My work carries a subconscious message: everything around us is made of energy, from the most infinitesimal particles to the very edges of the universe. I recognize that even the very act of creating my work is pure energy in motion, on the path to materialization. For me, art is like life itself—we are the creators of our achievements and of the experiences in our lives.
