Danzante Q ´anil (de la serie danzantes)
The Danzantes series is inspired by the ancestral Maya cosmogony, which continues to serve as a vital cultural force in the present. These pieces depict energies known as nahuales and characters that are integral to the traditional dances celebrated during the festivals of various towns across Guatemala. In the composition of each character, forms resembling volcanoes are also present, symbolizing their fundamental role in the region’s culture. This series captures the intersection of ancestral traditions and the natural elements that shape Guatemala’s cultural identity.
